Having problems with my fiance Appy

A couple months ago we got this Appy Gelding and my fiance loves im to death and Honey Boy Loves him too. But as soon as i get up on him thats a whole diifferent story he hates me and tries to knock me off butas son as charlie gets on hes a good boy. Now i have owned other horses no appys that i have loved riding this is our first Appy and is there anyway i can get him to lie me a lil bit so i can ride him better? Also is there a way we can get him to move faster he don like to canter or gallop at all.
